Obtaining appropriate and high-quality personal protective equipment is a top concern and significant challenge for dentists who are returning to the office in greater numbers to resume the provision of deferred and routine care during the pandemic.
To better equip dentists to practice safely, the California Dental Association has focused its advocacy efforts on sourcing larger quantities of quality equipment, especially N95 respirators.
CDA succeeded this week in securing those larger quantities from the state’s emergency resources and is pleased to make them available to California-licensed dentists now through CDA’s subsidiary, The Dentists Supply Company (TDSC), for a shipping and handling fee.
TDSC’s first PPE distribution to dentists in May also contained equipment from the state’s emergency resources. Having received feedback from members who reported that certain products included in the initial kit were not ideal for the dental setting, TDSC staff thoroughly vetted the state-supplied products in the current distribution and assures dental teams that the masks meet the quality specifications for use in the dental practice.
Quantities and ordering details:
A total of 15,000 kits are available with an estimated value of $741.93 per kit. Each kit contains:
- 140 BYD N95 respirator masks (7 boxes)
- 350 level-2 surgical masks (7 boxes)
There is a one-kit limit per licensed dentist in order to support as many dentists as possible.

Creating a TDSC.com account:
If you don’t already have a TDSC.com account, you will need to create one to place an order. TDSC requires a dental license number, along with the license type and state where issued to ensure that the kits go to California-licensed dentists only.
